  1. Are there film jobs available in North Carolina?
    Yes. North Carolina is a very film-friendly state, offering a 25% tax credit to movie makers. Five regional film commissions work year round to bring television and film projects to the state. There are several studios from the mountains to the coast, with the largest in Wilmington with 10 stages.
  2. Are there scholorships available for non-traditional students?
    Yes. The English Department has a number of scholarships available for students. View transfer and returning students scholarships. There is also more information available on scholarships and financial aid in Admissions.
  3. Who should I contact regarding internships for a project I am producing in Western North Carolina?
    Dr. Craig Fischer (fischercj@appstate.edu) has served on the Executive Committee of the Society for Cinema and Media Studies, the editorial board of Cinema Journal, and the Executive Committee of the International Comic Arts Forum at the Library of Congress. He will find students interested in production.
