Have you heard about the new and improved BA in English?
Last academic year, the English Department completely revamped its BA curriculum in several exciting ways:
The core curriculum now includes courses from all of our program areas, which allows students to better attune their education to their interests and career goals.
Every program now has its own Writing in the Discipline (WID) course, which allows students to better prepare for their concentrations and future careers.
Here are some new features in each of the programs:
Creative Writing - now has electives in Rhetoric and Technical Writing to prepare writers for careers in publishing and professional writing.
Film Studies - has been thoroughly redesigned, and now incorporates film production courses into its electives.
Literary Studies - is now completely flexible and customizable, and has a new Capstone course that prepares students for the next stage in their careers.
Rhetoric and Technical Writing - has newly updated courses and a curriculum that will prepare students for a variety of writing careers.
This newly redesigned BA is going to have a very positive impact in how we prepare our students, not only within their programs, but for their future careers. We want our students to hit the ground running when they graduate, having customized their education to better meet their interests and career goals.
