We Are Hiring Two Tenure-Track Faculty in Creative Writing

The Department of English at Appalachian State University, in North Carolina's Blue Ridge Mountains, invites applications for two tenure-track positions starting August 1, 2027. Both join an established creative writing program whose undergraduate concentration offers courses in poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, playwriting, screenwriting, and special topics. The department has a vibrant creative writing culture, including a Visiting Writers Series, the Rachel Rivers-Coffey Distinguished Visiting Professor each fall, and the journals Cold Mountain Review, Appalachian Journal, and The Peel.

Both positions are full-time and 9-month. The teaching load is 3/3, provided faculty produce at least 2 peer-reviewed publications (or equivalent) every 3 years. Service includes advising students and committee work. Visa sponsorship is available.
