Support our Diversity Scholarship

The Department of English and its benefactors wish to establish an Endowed Diversity Scholarship with the intention to promote and support historically underrepresented or non-traditional groups and populations who are committed to academic excellence, social justice, community initiative and service. The scholarship will be open to students desiring to attend (or attending) Appalachian State University with an intended major in English, who by virtue of their life experiences will contribute to a more diverse student population at Appalachian. Graduate students can also apply for the award.

This effort was initiated and being led by Dr. Bruce Dick as part of his work in our DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) Committee.  Our goal is to raise at least $25,000-- the minimum required for an endowed scholarship-- which means that it will support a $1000+ scholarship in perpetuity. If you have any questions or would like to establish a pledge, please contact him or Carey Fissel, Director of Development at CAS.

Here's a link to donate: givenow.appstate.edu/english.

You may also send a check payable to ASU Foundation, specifying it's for the "English Diversity Scholarship" in the memo. Please mail it to:
