In this graduate course, we will explore the theoretical roots, best practices, and teaching styles in rhetoric and composition (RC). Combining disciplinary knowledge of RC with teacher-training and professionalization, this course prepares students to teach RC courses in the RC General Education program here at App State and future teaching opportunities in college-level writing courses. At the end of this course, students will prepare a portfolio of professional teaching documents including a syllabus, three detailed writing assignments, and a teaching philosophy.
