300th Anniversary of Gulliver’s Travels
This year marks the 300th Anniversary of Jonathan Swift’s Gulliver’s Travels (1726), an instant sellout complete with giants, Lilliputians, talking horses, a flying island and – most of all – YAHOOS! In our class, we will see how Swift’s satire continues to resonate today and also explore crime fiction, the Gothic novel, and Jane Austen’s Northanger Abbey.
