ENG 4720/5720: Appalachian Literature

A study of major regional movements, genres, and writers in the Appalachian Mountains from settlement to the present. Application of individual research and critical thought to interpretation of significant novels in 20th C in Appalachian Literature in the midst of American modernism, post-modernism, climate change and global cyberspace and uncertainty.

Folklorists have many job options at the MA level so these courses are often useful to Appalachians Studies, Public History, Music, and other students.
