Our contemporary global landscape is defined in many ways by the rhetoric of atrocity and the spectacle of human suffering. This course will explore, through the lens of human rights, how voices speak out of sometimes impossible rhetorical situations. We may examine contemporary fiction, memoir, poetry, testimony, graphic narrative, theory and more to unpack how rhetorics of resistance operate.
