ENG 3760: Studies in Drama with Dr. James Ivory

“From Antiquity to the Postmodern”

ENG 3760 Studies in Drama. C’mon folks! Step right up. Get your ticket for the greatest show on Earth. Get the good seats while they are still available. What awaits you are the most memorable performances by some of history’s greatest playwrights. These timeless performances emerge from Grecian and Roman antiquity to our new millennium. We will read and experience a range of emotions from tragedies to comedies. Be prepared as you weep with the tragedians and laugh at the comedies with all their tomfoolery. Later, we’ll walk alongside the high modernist on the landscapes of the Theatre of the Absurd. And additionally, we will march alongside the mind-bending modernists and postmodernist playwrights, many of whom not only know well the histories of structuralism and poststructuralism but also many who have read and understand poststructuralism. Amazing! Watch as their ideas fly by and challenge audiences with many concepts we might take for granted like identity and reality. Finally, the best seats are going fast. Get yours today. This is a limited time engagement coming to Appalachian’s campus in Spring 2027. Act now.
