This class will set up and continue developing your skills at literary analysis and appreciation of literary works. We’ll read and explore some great short stories and poems through a variety of theoretical frameworks , and do so through class discussion as well as by working through various assignments that will make use of those interpretations. We will also discuss the nature of the English major, job opportunities, and other occupational and graduate school issues.
Fall; Spring. GEN ED: Junior Writing in the Discipline (WID) An introduction to the discipline of literary studies, with an emphasis on theoretical approaches, literary research, and critical writing. Prerequisite: RC 2001 or its equivalent.
