ENG 2430: Animals and Literature with Dr. Jessica Cory

This course serves as an introduction for both English majors and non-majors to the representation of animals in literature; students will learn about a range of cultural values that have shaped human interactions with nonhuman animals, including how representations of animals affect our willingness and ability to support their adaptation to climate change.

Readings will include multiple genres, such as novellas, speculative fiction, creative nonfiction and memoir, and poetry. We’ve got talking foxes, chicken husbandry, birding, connections with horses, fables, and much, much more!

Hickory Campus, Tuesdays and Thursdays 2:00–3:15
