Congratulations to Bethany Mannon for her "Xvangelical: The Rhetorical Work of Personal Narratives in Contemporary Religious Discourse,"

Bethany's article "Xvangelical: The Rhetorical Work of Personal Narratives in Contemporary Religious Discourse," will come out online this fall, and in print Spring 2019 in Rhetoric Society Quarterly.

"Xvangelical" examines the personal narrative rhetoric that contemporary evangelical leaders Sarah Bessey and Jen Hatmaker develop in order to negotiate conservative theology and politics. These writers resist formal argument; instead, they adapt the rhetorical practices of testimony and confession to advance liberatory views of gender within a Biblical framework.

Please congratulate her when you see her!
