Alex Sloop

Kennedy “Alex” Sloop is a lecturer in writing, rhetorics, and technical communication. His area of study is Appalachian literature, folklore, and oral history, and he is currently working on a project interviewing the descendents of the original settlers of Foscoe, NC. As the assistant director of Black and Global Roots Concerts, he has assisted Dr. Cece Conway in hosting traditional Appalachian musicians for concerts at Appalachian State. As a lecturer, Alex teaches RC 1000 and RC 2001. Alex’s diverse interests include Appalachian culture, folklore, poetry, Japanese literature and haiku, wabi-sabi, American literature, and fantasy.
