Course Description

In ENG 4870, Literature of the Romantic Period, we will focus on British authors of the Regency Period (1811–20). During this tumultuous era, King George III was pronounced insane, his libertine son became Prince Regent, Napoleon was defeated at Waterloo, Jane Austen’s novels were published, John Keats composed his great odes, and Mary Shelley wrote "Frankenstein."
